La situación de desarraigo del hombre en el mundo se ilumina de una forma especial y adquiere un sentido completamente nuevo a la luz de la predicación de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que lleva al creyente a sentirse como 'extranjero' ante una realidad escatológica que ya se hace presente.
La situación del extranjero se caracteriza por una serie de condiciones que se pueden designar en su conjunto como 'desarraigo'. Con este nombre se indica la carencia de los elementos que pueden dar estabilidad a una persona en una sociedad: como un tronco sin raíces no puede fijarse en el suelo, sino que está condenado a caer y a rodar, así también el hombre en un territorio extranjero. Hablar de desarraigo es hacer referencia a la carencia de un hogar propio, la falta de apoyo de familiares y amigos, el no tener bienes estables, a todo esto se agrega frecuentemente la dificultad del manejo del idioma que se habla en el nuevo domicilio, o la falta de familiaridad con las costumbres y normas de conducta.
La primera predicación de Jesús es un urgente llamado al hombre para que se coloque en una situación de desarraigo: abandono del hogar, renuncia a la familia y a los bienes, opción por una vida itinerante. A los primeros discípulos los separó de su familia y de su tarea habitual:
"...ellos dejaron sus redes y lo siguieron..." "...y ellos, dejando en la barca a su padre Zebedeo con los jornaleros, lo siguieron" (Mc 1,18.20).
El seguimiento de Jesús implica la renuncia a la familia:
"...permíteme antes que vaya a enterrar a mi padre. ... Sígueme, y deja que los muertos entierren a sus muertos" (Mt 8,21-22).
"Cualquiera que venga a mí y no me ame más que a su padre y a su madre, a su mujer y a sus hijos, a sus hermanos y hermanas, y hasta a su propia vida, no puede ser mi discípulo" (Lc 14,26).

Esta lectura me hace pensar, en que diferente habrá sido ese día para aquellos hombres.Estoy segura de que aquel día no fue igual que los anteriores. En medio de el trabajo cotidiano alguien muy especial se dirigió a ellos y les dijo: "SIGANME". No utilizó grandes discursos, ni grandes argumentos...solamente les dijo 1 palabra, pero con la suficiente fuerza y contenido como para cambiar la vida de aquellos hombres que serán sus futuros discípulos. También hoy Jesús nos sigue llamando a ser sus discípulos, nos sigue llamando como a aquellos primeros compañeros de camino. Desde nuestra vida, desde nuestra historia, queremos que Jesús nos cambie el corazón de manera que podamos responderle siempre a su llamado... "VEN Y SIGUEME"
